Six Month Anniversary of Hatch!
Wow! It is hard to believe that it's already been six months since we officially launched Hatch!
And, at the same time, it kind of feels like we've been doing this forever! Funny how that works.
For anyone who is considering starting their own passion business, let me tell you: I fully recommend it! Sure, there are parts of starting and owning a business that aren't rainbows and unicorns, but at the end of the day, I can honestly say, "I LOVE what I do for a living!"
So, in this blog post, I'm going to get a little reflective and look at some of our favorite projects we were able to create these past six months...
let's take a trip down memory lane...
When we launched Hatch back in November of 2016, I'm not sure either of us really knew what to expect. What we hoped for was immediate success, tons of people breaking down our door to hire us, fame, fortune, the whole nine yards! I mean, that's what anyone hopes for when they quit their job and put every last resource into a startup, right?
Well, what really happened was we had lots of encouragement and support, some initial interest, and a couple projects to work on. And, I do mean a couple.
But, after the New Year, that's when things really got rolling...
It has actually been quite amazing.
Over the last six months, we have acquired an eclectic mix of nonprofits, self-starters, established shops, and artists in the community as clients. We've had the opportunity to create logos and branding elements, full websites, printed materials, illustration commissions... we've hosted workshops... entered art exhibitions... helped people launch their own businesses... and, maybe best of all, we have met so many incredible people!
While it was quite challenging to narrow down the list, here is just a small sampling of some of our favorite designs from the last half year.
Overall, what I can say about the last six months is that it has been an unbelievable journey. Working from home has allowed us to have so much more time with our daughter and family in general, and there can't be enough said about having a work space that is uniquely your own. We have learned a great deal, grown as artists and professionals, and have strengthened our bond as a married couple.
Now that I've filled this post with lots of lovey-dovey anecdotes and memories, I'm feeling inclined to follow up with all of the not-so-fun parts of being a business owner! Ha! Instead, I will leave off with just one more merry sentiment.
Six months ago, I wrote myself a note.
I posted it above our kitchen sink so that I would see it — and read it — everyday. This is what it said...
...and I do just that. Every single day.
Leave me a comment if this post inspired you in some way! We'd love to hear from you!
